How To Make Your Salad Uber-Delish! (And Healthy)

Ah, Le Salad. Notorious for being the ultimate “healthy” choice.
It’s simple and fresh.
Juicy and raw.
So why is it that so many of us associate salads with tasting bad, feeling deprived, and/or having that internal battle – “Oh, I really want fried cheese curds, but I should eat a salad instead.”

Well, folks, it’s time to start enjoying your salads. Man cannot live on fried cheese curds alone.

Let’s get your greens on!

Stop with the crappy dressings.
Have you looked at the ingredient list on your dressing bottle? Usually it’s filled with cheap fillers and preservatives.

Here’s an interesting thing that I hear a lot:
“I like salad, but I don’t like dressing.”
Cool. You will most likely be healthier for skipping the dressing!
(Tip: when you go out to eat, ask for no dressing. See how fresh that salad REALLY is. And if it’s fresh, you might be pleasantly surprised that you like how it tastes!)

Here’s my amazing and easy-peasy dressing recipe:
– Lemon Juice
– Olive Oil
– Tamari (or soy sauce)*
– Red Pepper Flakes

Melissa’s love-filled salad recipe ā¤
First, fill up a salad bowl with a truckload of green leafy friends.
The more variety, the merrier.
Next, chop up some apples, add dressing, (I would recommend squeezing lemon juice into a separate container to get those seeds out first) and top off with dried cranberries. Done!
Optional goodness to add:
– Carrots
– Garlic
– Red onion
– Avocado
– Feta*
– Nutritional Yeast Flakes*
– Whatever else strikes your fancy šŸ™‚

*This salad is gluten-free if you use Tamari instead of Soy Sauce.
*This salad is vegan if you don't add feta. After feta, it's vegetarian.
(For cheesy-yumminess that's vegan, try Nutritional Yeast Flakes!)

Happy Monday!

Salad on,
Melissa
