When traveling…what to take in your makeup bag

When traveling or if you are always on the go, your makeup bag becomes your best friend. It is one of those important things that you don’t want to leave behind and realize that once you are at the airport. That would be a whole new ordeal, having to buy new products of the same kind upon arrival at your destination.

During my last trip I discovered the best way to compile my makeup without all the unnecessary hassle or worrying about forgetting anything. It’s quite simple…

Everyone’s makeup routine can be quite complex at home, where you have all of your products, eyeshadows, brushes, etc.. My makeup bag at home is quite voluminous. I have a bag where I keep the products that I use every day: foundation, concealer, powder, contouring palette, mascara, eyeliner etc. and  another bag where I keep the extras (stuff that I use for a special occasion, night out, etc).

When packing your makeup bag for a trip you don’t want to overload it and take some unnecessary stuff that you would almost never use.

Most importantly remember: Be Assertive

Here is what I take with me and would suggest could be some useful things to have: (each person will have different brands depending on personal preference but I will list off what I use )

  • Face Primer – NARS
  • Foundation – Elizabeth Arden Intervene
  • Concealer – Hourglass
  • Eyeliner – Elizabeth Arden
  • Mascara – Guerlain
  • Eyebrow pencil – MAC
  • Illuminator/ Highlighter – MAC
  • Bronzer – MAC
  • Blush – Elizabeth Arden
  • Eyeshadow Palette – Smashbox
  • Lipgloss/Lipstick – MAC

The main idea is to stick to essentials. Some of the things listed above can be different from person to person (some may not use eyebrow pencils or others might prefer not to use eyeliner or even mascara for  instance). In those cases do not overload yourself. When it comes to your eyeshadow ( I have a palette that is small enough and I can take easily with me). If you don’t own a palette, then you can select few individual eye shadows which are most generic and suitable for your eye color. Refrain from taking something that would be extravagant and unsuitable for versatile occasions.

This has helped me downsize a lot when traveling and hopefully now it will be a lot easier when sorting through my things, to pick which ones to leave behind..
