Miss Universe 2013: Top 10 Evening Gowns

We were so excited to watch the Miss Universe competition last night! As pageant girls, we enjoy everything a pageant stands for. Competing in a pageant makes a woman driven, confident, passionate about her community, and it makes her a role model. Pageantry is very important to us! Here is our ranking of the Top 10 evening gown competition. If you have a pageant coming up, take notes!

10. Yaritza Reyes, Miss Universe Dominican Republic 2013

Yaritza Reyes, Miss Universe Dominican Republic 2013, stepped on the stage in a very sexy white long sleeve evening gown with a modern twist. We know about the steamy culture in the Caribbean but this gown is a bit too sexy for the Miss Universe stage. Perhaps if the metal disks on the mesh portions of her dress were replaced with rhinestones, she would have look more elegant. Nonetheless, we adore her confidence and are proud of her for making it to the top 10.

9. Manasi Moghe, Miss Universe India 2013

Miss India has the perfect face, perfect body, and perfect hair. She was a contender until she stepped on the stage in this evening gown. The gold sequins on the top half of the dress are arranged in an inconsistent pattern, making it look sloppy. With the gold tones combined with the faded salmon color of the dress, it makes the dress look a bit cheap, and the feathering on the mermaid portion of the dress makes it look torn up. If Manasi competed in a flowing royal blue evening gown, she may have walked away with the crown last night.

8. Jakelyne Oliveira, Miss Universe Brazil 2013

Miss Universe 2013 fourth runner up wore a festive gown that have a subtle representation of her lively Brazilian culture. It fit her like a glove and glowed beautifully as she walked. We placed her #7 because the mesh on the bottom half of the dress looked unfinished and made us think…where is the rest of her dress?

7. Amy Willerton, Miss Universe Great Britain 2013

This dress may be appropriate for a red carpet event, but several things make it an inadequate pageant gown. The front of the dress was so short that it didn’t touch the floor and we could see her giant platform shoes the whole time.In the back, it got longer but it was not quite a train. It was spare material that dragged a bit in the back when she walked. The sequining was beautiful but the purple stripes on the dress are again, a bit too edgy for a pageant.

6. Constanza Baez, Miss Universe Ecuador 2013

Third runner up at Miss Universe 2013, Constanza Baez walked confidently in this mint evening gown. We like the design of this gown but isn’t the color a bit juvenile?

5. Erin Brady, Miss USA 2013

Our Miss USA, Erin Brady looked beautiful in a sequined red strapless dress with a plunging neckline. Although she looks stunning in the photo, we didn’t like the way the dress moved at the top when she walked. You could see that the top half of the dress was rock-hard and fashion-taped (or butt glued) on to her dress. With that being the only downside, Miss USA is 5 on our list.

4. Gabriela Isler, Miss Universe Venezuela 2013

Gabriela Isler, Miss Universe Venezuela 2013, represented beauty and grace as she competed in a sleek, long sleeve evening gown. Without the long flowing train and with long sleeves, Gabriela may be setting a new trend for evening gowns in pageantry.

3. Ariella Arida, Miss Universe Philippines 2013

Miss Phillipines seems to find her way into the Top 5 every year! We don’t need to wonder why! This beauty, Ariella Arida, Miss Universe Philippines 2013 looks stunning in a silky yellow evening gown. We commend her for taking a risk by wearing yellow, and looking absolutely beautiful in it.

2. Patricia Yurena Rodriguez, Miss Universe Spain 2013

Patricia Yurena Rodriguez, Miss Universe Spain 2013 and first runner up at the competition last night, looked absolutely stunning in this gown. We love the gorgeous neckline and the semi-mermaid shape of the gown. The rhinestones on the upper half made her shine. She walked elegantly in her gown and she radiated confidence while we competed.

1. Olga Storozhenko, Miss Universe Ukraine 2013

Olga Storozhenko, Miss Universe Ukraine 2013 looked graceful, sophisticated, and elegant in her gorgeous flowing white gown. With her hair up, she looked extremely classy and she owned her walk in the gown. Which one was your favorite?
