Now lets talk Halloween, the one day of the year where it is completely normal to be a witch, cat, or zombie. I am sure you all have clever ideas about what you are dressing up like. Hmmm, I think I will be a cowgirl.

But I’m not going to talk about costumes today, I want to talk about pumpkins. Most people will have orange pumpkins on their porches, but I know that my house will have a teal pumpkin. That’s right, I will be painting my pumpkin teal as part of the #tealpumpkinproject! This project was launched by Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) last year in order to raise awareness of food allergies during Halloween.

Having food allergies all my life, I know first hand what a bummer Halloween can be. Don’t get me wrong, I have always LOVED this holiday, but I hated giving all my chocolate treats to my friends.

That is why I am motivating everyone who reads this to join the #tealpumpkinproject, all you have to do is purchase an everyday pumpkin, paint it teal and purchase non-edible treats like bubbles, stickers or crayons. What little kids do you know that don’t like stickers? If you do want to give out candy, Whole Foods sells great options, like healthy fruit lollipops or Justin’s© which are gluten free, milk free peanut butter cups. They even have non GMO candy corn.

Halloween is supposed to be a fun and scary holiday, but not the kind of scary where you have to worry about a life threatening allergy.

Remember to make this week a wonderful week!

Until next time

Char ❤
