Hello fellow LadyCoders!
This past week, I was going to two separate events and of course I couldn’t find anything to wear. I went through an array of outfits that I thought would work for the occasion, but my boyfriend couldn’t understand why I was wearing, what I was wearing. I went through a series of outfits, each of which he did not understand. I tried to explain to him my style, and the occasion but he still didn’t get it. I decided to compile a list of outfits that men don’t seem to understand. I thought about my choices and how I normally put styles together, so here is my list, with my boyfriends snarky comments.
1. Peplum-A cute top that can accentuate the waistline. It can be worn with a skirt, or pants. When I asked my boyfriend how it looked, he said I looked like I was trying to fly, or do some kind of dance (Seriously dude??)
2. Maxi-Dresses-A cute dress that can be worn for many occasions. Sometimes with an open back, or in lace etc. When I asked my boyfriend how that looked he said I looked like I was wearing a long table cloth (A lacy tablecloth!!)
3. A Big Purse-A great style accessory to enhance any outfit. Allows you to carry everything you need. When I asked my boyfriend if he liked my bag, he said it looked like I was going to the grocery store, so I wouldn’t have to carry the plastic grocery bags, hence a bag lady (That one made me mad).
4. A Floppy Hat-Something that can be worn when you don’t feel like doing your hair, or a fun way to dress up, or down an outfit. As I was walking out the door, my boyfriend told me I looked like I was going to the Derby and that I probably couldn’t fit through the door (The hat wasn’t even that big).
As a whole, I came to realize that men will never understand the way girls dress. They will never understand that wearing a peplum top and high-waisted jeans is a cute look! They will always be a little confused about how we put our outfits together, which is totally fine. In the end, I think it’s important to wear whatever makes you feel pretty, so you can embrace your inner girl!
Have you ever worn something that your significant other didn’t understand? If so, let me know!
