What projects do you have going on at the moment?

Currently I am raising awareness and monies for the Transportation Fund for the Kazim Shriners temple, which helps the children of Virginia get to the closest Shriners Hospital for Children in Greenville, South Carolina. The next step is to be able to help Shriners kids and their family from across the country, by fundraising for the Shriners Hospital for Children in Lexington, Kentucky.

You have held state titles in the Miss USA, Miss United States, and Miss World organizations! What is the difference, as a contestant, between the three systems?

One of the best parts of pageantry is the fact that every system is different, so they support all different types of women. In my opinion Miss USA is the ultimate Beauty Pageant. Miss USA focuses more on the modeling and the presentation of the woman. Miss United States is more of a cross between the Miss USA system and the Miss America System. The interview is more like the America system and the stage presentation is more like the USA system. Miss World on the other hand is a competition like no other. It has 8 judged categories from a multimedia challenge to a fitness competition to a Beauty with a Purpose on stage presentation and a contestant introduction video!

You are a very busy girl, what is a typical day like for you?

The best part about my job is that every day is different! When I am don’t have an appearance to attend my day consists of waking up and doing some morning cardio, computer work in the morning, hit the gym with my trainer Body By Craig, then make my way over to Proms Pageants and Pretty Things to get some work done and I end the day with some rock climbing.

What has been the highlight of being Miss Virginia World 2015 so far?

I have two favorite highlights so far this year. The first one was when I traveled to Tampa, Florida to visit the Headquarters of the Shriners International organization has been my biggest highlight so far. While I was down there I learned more of their history and I had a meeting with the organization to talk about how I can help on a national level, if I am to win the title of Miss World America. We picked a great project.

My second highlight of my year was the Shriners Kid Sunday Funday. I party that I put on to celebrate the Shriners kids and their families. Over 20 different local business donated their time, money and resources which made the day so special. I hope to make it an annual event!

Growing up, who was your inspiration?

This may sound cliché, but my mom has always been my inspiration. She always has awesome 4 am ideas, an amazing drive to get things done and is very supportive and motivating person. I don’t know how she does everything she does, she is incredible.

What has been the key to your success?

After losing our state wrestling tournament by only 5 points, my high school wrestling coach, Jamie Soltis, told us we need to trust ourselves and our preparation and Leave No Doubt next year. That is exactly what we did and we ended up winning the state championship by over 30 points the next year. From that point on I make sure I trust myself and my preparation and Leave No Doubt in every goal that I set!

Miss World America emphasizes Beauty with a Purpose. What is your platform? My Beauty With a Purpose Project is  Love to the Rescue, bringing awareness and funding to the Shriners Transportation Fund. If you are not familiar with the Shriners they are an International Organization that provides funding for the Shriners Hospitals for Children, which provides medical care to children under the age of 18. The Transportation fund helps cover the cost of gas, lodging and food, during their hospital trips.

What can Lady Code readers do in their communities to get involved?

One of the reasons I chose the Shriners International organization was because it is International, so I am able to connect and work with people around the globe! The easiest way to get involved is to spread awareness and help fundraise. Anyone can visit mywww.gofundme.com/missvaworld to see more specific information about the Shriners and how to donate!

In your free time, what do you enjoy doing?

I love being outside! In my free time you can find me hiking, rock climbing or working out. I also enjoy traveling and volunteering. Last year, I had the opportunity to travel 35,000 miles across the state of Virginia volunteering, where helped raise over 1.5 Million dollars for nonprofit organizations across the state.

Can you tell us about your 10 year plan?

That s a great question but I cannot tell you about my 10 year plan because I don’t have a strict plan. I am open-minded and plan to follow the opportunities as they come!

What motivates you?

The opportunity to be better tomorrow than I am today! I am a very competitive person. Over the years I have learned to narrow down my competition to myself. When I was younger I was competitive with my peers around me, but I found that mindset can be frustrating. When I switched gears to trying to become the best me I can be, I had much better results.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

Don’t spread yourself too thin. It is better to be amazing at one or two things then okay at a bunch of things.
