Vizcaya Swimwear along with NoVe Sushi collaborated and put together a charity fashion show benefiting the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation. The event took place in Miami at NoVe Kitchen and Bar. It was an amazing opportunity to be a part of such a memorable night that was supporting such a noble cause.
The sun was finally setting and the crowd started to gather to their tables. It was finally 8 o’clock. The conversations from each table faded away as the show was about to start. The opening performance was by KRMAH (singer presented by Wilcard Talent). She was very talented and her stage presence immediately captivated the audience.
Shortly after, Kristina Innemee, Miss Vizcaya Swimwear came to the stage. She introduced all titleholders: Miss Florida United States 2014, Miss Miami United States 2015, Miss South Florida United States 2015, Miss Palm Beach Florida Nationwide 2015, as well as Miss Junior Teen United States 2014, Simona Rivero, who was the host of the show.
Simona discussed about breast cancer awareness, its importance, and how being involved and helping others makes a tremendous impact. Shortly after she called to the stage Dr. Amy Sanchez- Zadak from the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation, who spoke about the organization.
After the first part of the fashion show, I had the opportunity of going on stage to speak about anti-bullying awareness and Lady Code. As October is not only Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and also Anti-Bullying Awareness Month. It is important to remember that the change starts within yourself. If you are a bully, you need to put an end to that right away. Also, remember to take action if you see someone being bullied. Try to put yourself in everyone’s shoes before doing something that could be hurtful to another person.
Simona called to the stage Vicki Kapilow, two time cancer survivor. Vicki shared her story, which was very moving and left many members of the audience in tears. David Octavio Gandell also a two time cancer survivor shared his story and how though his faith he had the strength to fight cancer and become cancer free.
During the second part of the fashion show, three swimsuit designs were revealed, which were designed to conceal mastectomy scars. As the second part of the show was in honor of those affected by breast cancer, the collection was all pink bikinis. At the end of the show, one of the models Melissa and her mother, Vicki Kapilow revealed the mastectomy swimwear as they walked together.
