Georgetown: Girls Night And Memories

Madness… running around from place to place! I quickly finish  my makeup, turned the flat iron on to touch up my hair.  AHHH, it’s already 10 o’clock! I am once again late to my class…

This is how things have been going for me for the past couple of weeks, I wish there were more than 24 hours in the day, then I would have the opportunity to get everything done! I haven’t spent much time with my family, that is why I decided this past weekend to drive home after I finished classes.

Saturday morning, I woke up and felt like I got hit by a truck! The few hours of sleep I had were not enough…I wanted to just forget about the plans I had for the day and sleep but….that is an expensive luxury! There is always something important that needs to get done!

My plans for the day were to hang out with my cousin (Alexandra), we met up later in the afternoon and we were deciding what to do…Finally an idea came to mind: Destination Georgetown! 🙂

Have you ever been?

Georgetown is a historic neighborhood, commercial, and entertainment district located northwest of Washington D.C. This is the perfect place to go to for good restaurants, sophisticated shops, and a girls night out!  At the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and M Street, you can find the primary commercial corridors of Georgetown, which contain high-end shops, bars, and restaurants. There is also the Georgetown Park enclosed shopping mall and the Washington Harbor waterfront restaurants. If you are looking for historic landmarks, you can see the Volta Bureau, The Old Stone House (the oldest unchanged building in Washington), The Tudor Place, Dumbarton Court.

Georgetown is versatile as it offers many different activities to do for different ages and for people with different interests. If you are there to eat, the possibilities are endless. Among the many restaurants there are: Filomena, Pizzeria Paradiso, Clyde’s of Georgetown, Kafe Leopold, Cafe Bonaparte, Pinkberry (for the lovers of frozen yogurt) , and Georgetown Cupcake.

You have to go, go, go to Georgetown Cupcake!!! This is the leading destination for gourmet cupcakes. Georgetown Cupcakes have been featured in many known newspapers as well as different shows such as: the NBC Today Show, The Martha Stewart Show. This place is super cute and the cupcakes taste divine! It is a cute place for a date, or just to go with the girls to catch up.

When my cousin and I went, we decided to go eat at Pizzeria Paradiso. This is the only place in the D.C area where we could find the European style pizza we longed for. The food is made tastefully here, they say that their little “secret” is the crust, which is the most important part! We ordered the Margherita Pizza….so yum! As we ate, we enjoyed a glass of red wine, and reminisced on things.

If you are not in Georgetown to eat, but want to shop instead, prepare to spoil yourself! There are many brand shops: for clothes, shoes, and makeup!

Shoppers of all ages can “play dress up” in Georgetown!

There are over 150 stores including unique local boutiques and well known international brands. The stores encompass a wide variety of styles: classy, elegant, trendy, edgy, bold, sophisticated, or casual. Some of the stores are: Also Shoes, American Apparel, Anthropologie, BCBG, Diesel, Ella Rue, H&M, International Exchange, Michael Kors, Milano Collections, Zara, and many others. I like how the shops are high-end and the style is very european. I really wanted to stop by Sephora, I have a little perfume obsession and I wanted to add another perfume to my collection, but unfortunately while eating we got carried away with laughter and by the time we were done the stores had closed.

If you are not there to shop, you can walk around and enjoy the ambient! That’s what my cousin and I ended up doing.

In Georgetown, we can pretend like we are in Europe!!!

Ali is right, Georgetown is our little europe look-alike place! For those who have nostalgia and long for the culture, shops, and restaurants of Europe, you should consider going to Georgetown.
