Travel Blog: Rio De Janeiro Brazil

Hi girls! I’m back from an amazing week in Brazil and I’m reliving the whole experience going through my photos from my trip!

Catch my full Rio experience on my Rio De Janeiro Vlog:

I want to share some highlights with you here on Lady Code so let’s get started:

Our first stop was in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, because Franz had some work meetings there. It was raining the whole time but we got to enjoy some amazing food and do some minor sight seeing.

The national museum in Brasilia
Dinner at Fogo De Chao in Brasilia!

Our flight from Brasilia to Rio was super short- about an hour and 20 minutes. It was gloomy when we landed and it rained in Rio for the first two days, so we spent a looooot of time sleeping in, eating, and eating.

My mood when I packed 15 bikinis and it ends up raining 😦

When the sun finally came out on our third day in Rio, we literally spent the entire day on the beach. The vibe was everything I imagined: vibrant colors, live music, and people everywhere. Franz had to make an emergency run for sunscreen because the sun was so strong! We ended up burning after like, 30 minutes!

Copacabana beach

In the afternoon after our beach day, we went to Escadaria Selaron, or the Selaron Steps, to do some sightseeing. It was SUPER toursity and the lines were long to get a photo on the stairs. We went to the top where there were less people for our photo op.

Christ the Redeemer is something everyone has to see in Rio! It is an incredible experience but because it is so popular, it gets VERY crowded at the top. Even though Franz and I woke up super early, we still couldn’t beat the crowds. Instead of fighting with the tourists for my photo with the Christ, I decided to get creative. Watch my trip highlights on my Rio Travel Vlog.

After Christ the Redeemer, we headed over to Sugarloaf Mountain, where you can take cable cars to the very top. I loved this experience because it was so beautiful. I’m scared of heights so it was a little scary being so high up, but I survived! This is also where you can hang out with adorable little monkeys called marmosets. You can see all the fun we had on my vlog: Rio Vlog

My favorite restaurants in Rio De Janeiro:

CONFEITARIA COLOMBO

I really enjoyed having tea at Confeitaria Colombo, a gorgeous tea/cafe with views of Copacabana beach. The setting was super cute and reminded me of a Brazilian version of Laduree.

GAROTA DE IPANEMA

This restaurant in Ipanema is known for its Pincanha. The meat is served on a grill to your table so you can cook it on your own to your liking. We loved it so much we came here twice during our trip! One order is plenty to serve 2-3 guests.

L’ETOILE

We stayed at the Sheraton resort because it featured the best amenities including a secluded beach. We had no idea that the best restaurants were at the hotel as well! L’Etoile, a French Restaurant, and Bene, an Italian restaurant were my favorites. The food was incredible and both restaurants were highly ranked online.

COCONUTS

Fresh stands line the beach where you can get food, drinks, and fresh coconuts! These coconuts are super fresh and cost about 4 reais, which is about $1 USD with the current conversion rate. Super refreshing and the perfect prop for the beach photos!

ACAI

Natu Suco is an adorable juice bar/restaurant with a surfer vibe. Our Acai was made to order with custom sides.

I had the time of my life and I was a little sad to leave Brazil, but I’m so happy to be back on Lady Code because I missed you all so much!
