Elite Miss Nevada 2018, Jody Marie is a true inspiration to the community. Being a speaker, Jody has been able to reach thousands of people every single year to influence others to reduce waste, go vegan, and support their local community. She has also been accepted to be a representative for the Climate Reality Leadership Corps and lead the global fight for climate solutions. As a Fashion Model, Raw Foods Chef, Speaker, Environmentalist and Activist… Jody tries her best to leave the biggest impact with the smallest footprint.

Having a state title must keep you pretty busy! What is a typical day like for you?
Waking up and doing some form of self-love is very important to starting the day. It will either start off with Yoga, Meditation, or getting out in nature. Starting your day with self-love can make or break your day! My days consists of volunteering, appearances, photoshoots, planning community outreach activities as well as my day to day work activities. I also spend quality time with my boyfriend, friends and family. Working at a Real Estate Investment company, I have the flexibility to do what I love and love what I do! The joy of being a title holder is every day is different and every day is just as exciting!

What has been the highlight of your reign so far? Meeting some of the most impactful and inspirational women around the USA has been the highlight of my reign. Growing up being bullied by most of the girls in my class, I had an idea of how women behave and didn’t want to be friends with women. It wasn’t until I joined pageantry that I realized that not all women put you down and many of them have your best interest in mind. Empowered women Empower women and I truly believe that pageantry is a true sisterhood to greatness. Even before Nationals, I have met some of the most kind, genuine and empowered individuals. Some of my best friends were from pageantry and I am so thankful to be able to meet the rest of the ladies in Washington DC. Your vibe attracts your tribe!

What are some of your best beauty secrets to looking flawless all the time? Eating a balanced diet full of fruits and vegetables are what keep my skin looking flawless. I do not eat processed foods for many reasons such as the waste it produces, the lack of nutrition and for health. Being natural and rocking your own skin is also very important as it keeps your skin clear and free of chemicals. Being beautiful in your own skin is such an empowering feeling. I personally love myself with makeup but love myself even more without it.

Lady Code has a focus on anti-bullying and women empowerment. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be victims of bullying? Bullying has nothing to do with you, it has to do with the other person. Being bullied my whole life, I used to always think there was something wrong with me until I studied cognitive behavior in my 20’s and learned that most people who cause harm to other people is because they are suffering and want to push it on someone else. The best advise I could give would be to give your bullies more love because they truly need it. Stay Strong and keep being you!

Tell us about your platform: Being an Earth Warrior, my job is to protect our beautiful life-giving and life-saving Mother Earth. Coming from Native American Ancestry, I have always felt a deep sense of connection to our Mother Earth and all living things on it. That is why my platform is to encourage others to reduce waste, go vegan, and support their local economy. Americans on average produce 4.4lbs of trash every single day. Animal agriculture is responsible for 91% of the amazon being destroyed and causes 51 billion farm animals to be killed for food, every year, and that does not include sea animals. These are beautiful creatures that are essential to our ecosystem and our oceans. Supporting locals is also very important because it helps put money in your local economy and you help make your community a destination. Reducing waste is something everyone can do. We do not have a world hunger issue, we have a world waste issue.  I teach free monthly zero waste classes, intro to veganism, and host monthly meetups to bring the community together. As a speaker, I was able to reach thousands of people at the 7^th annual Health Healing and Happiness conference here in Las Vegas to encourage them to reduce waste, go vegan, and support locals. Working with local and national businesses, leaders and congress, I have been able to make a drastic change in my community.

What can Lady Code readers do in their communities to get involved? One thing you can do right away is use your voice for what you believe in! We have so much power behind our voice and if you are not speaking about something you believe in, your community is missing out. It all depends on what your passion is, but you can host community cleanups, teach a class about something you believe in, reach out to local businesses to host events to raise money for non-profits. My favorite quote from Mother Teresa…” I can do things better than you can…you can do things better than I can…but together we can do great things” If you are not good at planning community outreach activities, find someone in your local community who is and use your talents to help them!

In your free time, what do you enjoy doing? Everything I do, I do with love. I do not add anything to my calendar if I am not going to enjoy it. I have come to a point in my life where I do what I love, and I love what I do. During my free time I spend time out in nature. I love hiking, camping, kayaking, grounding, gardening and just being out with our Mother Earth.

What is the best advice you have ever received? Best advice I have ever received was you will always have haters in your life and people who will try and put you down. Be the bigger person and send love their way! Keep being you and never change.
