Aliments of the season that will help you stay fit

As spring is the season where fruits and legumes are available in abundance we should take advantage of this! One more day and April is here, and from then on the challenge starts to have the perfect summer body. It is up to you to be in tip top shape and a year from today you don’t want to look back and wish you started sooner!

Your diet contributes 80% to staying fit and the rest is working out!

When it comes to fruits and vegetables the most recommended ones are organic! If possible try to avoid the modified ones and stick to the healthier organic alternative.

Here are some of the aliments that we believe will help you stay fit this season:

Grapes

I am sure you have heard of the “grape diets” that are targeted towards loosing weight.  Grapes are great antioxidants. The secret is to  replace one of your meals for the day with grapes or if not to incorporate them in your diet. When snacking, instead of choosing chips, have grapes instead.

Strawberries

As they are low in calories but filled with nutrients strawberries are perfect towards helping you lose weight or maintaining your fit shape. They are also rich in Omega3, which helps fight cancer. Not only that but they are delicious and refreshing, which makes them the perfect snacks.

Watermelon

Did you know that watermelon protects you against UV rays and stimulates collagen production? We recently spoke with a nutritionist who shared this fun fact with us! Watermelon is also very refreshing and a perfect snack to cool off on a hot day! As mentioned above you should incorporate it in you diet, or even replace one of your meals with it!

Kiwi

Again, this could be a very refreshing snack during a hot day! Filled with nutrients it is perfect to help you stay fit or if you are trying to shed off few pounds you can replace one of your meals with it. We recommend that you add some of the fruits listed above and make an amazing fruit salad.

Blueberries

They are mainly recommended to be eaten in the morning by nutritionists! Blueberries are very sweet and high in vitamins and nutrients. They are a delicious snack and will provide you with the energy needed throughout the day.

Now for the vegetables…

Green Beans

Rich in Omega3, green beans are very healthy as well as recommended by many nutritionists. The amount of time to prepare it is minimal and with a little salt and pepper added it can taste amazing! Greens are good and should definitely be incorporated in your diet.

Parsley

Parsley helps eliminate water from your body, not only that but it is also rich in vitamin K. Although you can’t eat it alone, it is the perfect ingredient that should be added to salads and soups!

Beats

Rich in vitamin B as well as recommended because it prevents heart disease, beats are perfect to be incorporated into your diet! You can chose to replace a meal during the day with beats! They taste delicious and are low in calories but high in nutrients.

Edamame

They are our favorite! The best thing to snack on, or even replace a meal with! They are very easy to prepare but high in nutrients, low in calories and very filling. It is very easy to replace one of your meals with a bowl of edamame. If you are a fan of spicy food, you can add ingredients and make them spicy so that the taste is not so mundane!

Sweet peppers

Although they cannot be eaten alone, they should be paired up or be one of the ingredients of one of your meals. Sweet red peppers are high in vitamin C and a good energy source! If your diet does not consist of a lot of carrots then sweet peppers are a good replacement.

Try incorporating some of these fruits and vegetables into your diet, maybe as a snack or even to replace a meal! You can email us at brickellsisters@gmail.com to let us know how the diet is going and if you are happy with the results!
