Words hurt. At any age.

Sticks and stones may break your bones but words will never hurt you….except, words can. And they do.

Most recently, I have been reminded of how much words can hurt. At any age. And yes, as you get older you are supposed to let things go and filter out the negative. Yes, it does get easier with age, but it doesnt mean it still doesn’t hurt.

As women, we truly should be empowering each other. Building each other up and celebrating all the amazing things we have accomplished. Pushing others to better themselves and truly make a difference in their lives and through their communities. Until we can take away the jealousy, anger, and hatred, we will never truly appreciate how we, as women, can make a difference.

With social media at our fingertips it is important that we all remember what damage simple words can do. So here are two simple thoughts that we should always remember:

1. If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Do not use social media as a way to express your negative opinions towards another individual. When you post something for all to see, that is exactly what is going to happen. All will see. Yes, you may delete the comment. But is never truly gone. It is engrained in the memories of those who have already seen it.

2. Social media is an amazing outlet to share ideas and thoughts. It is a great way to organize events. Let’s use it that way! Let’s use social media the way it is intended. To bring everyone together. To empower others. To congratulate them on a job well done and give ideas on how to improve.

That’s it. Easy! Let’s continue to work together, empower each other, and build each other up. As women, we owe it to ourselves.

And just because, here is one of my favorite quotes: Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, to all the people you can, in every place you can, at all the times you can, as long as you ever can.

XOXO
