When your pet goes missing

Hello lovelies. Happy Monday!

Yesterday, I got a phone call from my friend who was/is watching my beloved cat, Briar, and she tells me that he’s missing.

Meet Briar:

I’m 2,500 miles away, and I have this sick-feeling lump in my stomach because I’m worried.
Immediately, I’m thinking about how I didn’t expect “Good-Bye for now” to mean GOODBYE.

These days, I’m not one to worry and be in a state of distress (I had to work really hard to eradicate those patterns) but this was a new one to handle.

Thanks, universe. For always being there to test challenge me 🙂

Here’s what I’ve done to help me come back to present time:

Allow yourself to feel what you’re feeling and accept yourself anyway
It’s very important to fully accept and love yourself no matter what emotions you’re feeling. But remember that emotion is movement. Emotion. So it’s normal to feel something for a bit, and then move on. This comes with the practice of present time awareness. The more you can fully immerse yourself in each new precious moment, the harder it is to stay stuck, depressed, and worried.

Trust the universe
You know that everything happens for a reason, right? We can’t control everything or know everything. When it seems like nothing is going right, don’t give up hope. I didn’t. I decided that Briar might still come back. And he might not. But either way, I don’t want that sickening worrying to be how I remember this trip. I want to experience the people and the travels and the memories to the fullest.

Love always
Holy macaroni. What my Briar taught me was unconditional love and compassion and allowing me to experience the depths of that. Because of him, I am a better person.
I aim to treat all living things with the same love and respect that he showed me.

I hope he comes back.

Now, I want to hear from you!
Leave a comment and tell me about how you have handled these hard times. As always, you can find me via email here and on Facebook.

All my love to you,

  1. 1. Doesn’t God teach you about unconditional love and acceptance?
    2. Did you pray? Or is the universe not taking calls right now.

    1. Thanks for your thoughts, Kim!
      1. God totally teaches unconditional love and acceptance. I’m not sure why you assumed otherwise, and I’m sorry if my intention was not clear. Briar is of his creation, as we all are and I love that.

      2. Oh yes! Prayers have been said, for sure. All amongst the kind souls in my community that reach all over the world. And I appreciate your concern and I hope that you add your prayer as well!
I’m not sure what you meant by “or is the universe not taking calls right now.”
Was there a misunderstanding or a question that I can clear up?
